Sara Faye and I live in a suburb of Houston, Texas, where we raised our children after moving here in 1982. For the past 21 years, I have made a living as an attorney. I am now "of counsel" with the Lanier Law Firm, whose owner, Mark Lanier, is also my dear friend and supporter of my ministry.

I have a "goodly heritage," as the Psalmist might put it. My mother is the former Sybil Short, whose parents were missionaries in southern Africa from 1921 for the next 60 years. Mom was born and reared in what are now Zambia and Zimbabwe. Her parents were Will and Delia Short, and their story and hers are told in brief in my book, The Sound of His Voice.

Now in her mid-80's, Mom recently wrote a workbook on Jeremiah and taught a class on Revelation. She has raised six children, outlived two husbands, and maintains a full schedule of study, correspondence and visiting the "old ladies" in her church who are home-bound and appreciate her encouragement.

My father was Bennie Lee Fudge, a Christian publisher and preacher who influenced a generation of believers in Churches of Christ and Christian Churches through his "Use Your Bible" workbooks for Sunday Schools.
